I gave birth to my daughter in January this year and I couldn’t fault either delivery unt or maternity day unit or the staff or ward D after birth. All really helped me through labour and looking after my baby after birth with being my first child recovering from labour and the epidural. My child got stuck in the birth canal and heart rate dropped with in a few seconds nurses came in after 20 minutes she was out safe due to all them. The anathesist who done my epidural was very patient and understanding after I passed out the first time and did it again when I was settled. I can’t thank any of them enough for the help and understanding. After birth there was 2 midwifes who really comforted me after birth as I was covered in blood and my belly snapped straight back in and I went all funny about the fact my child wasn’t in my belly anymore. I couldn’t move properly cause of the epidural and all the blood made me feel dizzy I felt so ill I couldn’t hold my child but these nurses really looked after me. They never rushed me or made me feel unfortable. I got up to ward d with my baby and the nurse dressed my child as I litterally felt so I’ll to move. I couldn’t reach my girl out of the cot next to me to feed and the nurses came and helped me get her out and passed her to me and put her back in bed. After my catheter bag got taken out I needed the toilet by the time I had walked to the toilet and was trying to walk back I was practically falling to the floor i agony from stitches down below and trying to stand up straight after the epidural the dizziness made me nearly pass out again the staff walked me back to bed and kept coming back to check on us both I can’t thank them all enough for the care and support they gave to us. They let my mum and partner stay for ages after birth aswell. The only thing I’ll say bad wise about any of the pregnancy departments is that early pregnancy unit have to be the most rudest, judgemental place ever and I would not recommend anyone going there if they had any problems because there’s no care or support what so ever there. They judged me for being pregnant at 19. Asking my mum if she was proud her 19 year old daughter was pregnant. Looking down at me and my partner and Mum for saying yeah she’s proud. And they said my best friend was lying about being pregnant even though she was sent there by a doctor. They said she wasn’t having an ectopic when she was resulting in her in hospital nearly getting sepsis, nearly having her tube removed, bruises all over her arms and feet from canulas. And a week hospital stay. Horrible place.
"loved my last experience hopefully will in August"
