"AMAZING!"

At the time of my admission I wasn’t in the mindset to get better I didn’t see the point I didn’t want to be there.

I spent most of the first few months on 2:1 it was really difficult I didn’t need understand why I needed to be restrained I didn’t understand why the support workers and nurses wouldn’t just let me get on with it but when I got moved to 1:1 one of the staff suggested I made some goals we had these really cool blackboards that we’re huge and I turnt it into a positivity wall down one half I had positive quotes and on the other half I had 3 weekly goals. And then 2 long term goals. One was to make it to my aunties wedding without a staff escort and the other one was to be discharged. The staff on Thames were so helpful and caring My 1:1 would sit with me and discuss the plan with me. I made a calendar with one of the support workers of what I wanted to happen the weekly meetings and the feeling I Felt each week I achieved one was amazing it wasn’t an easy journey I still had fall backs but the team are phenomenal they managed to pick up on things that helped to calm me down whilst I was distressed and most of the time it worked. I spent about 6 months on Thames ward before going to a step down unit and it’s by far the best care I’ve had. The staff had time for you and yeah it got hectic on the ward but the patients aswell were lovely and we managed to support eachother. I can’t fault the staff team on Thames because it’s a year on and Ive had no more hospital stays I’m in college doing a course I love and I’m on my way to doing the job of my dreams. If it wasn’t for the staff in Thames I definitely wouldn’t be where I am now!

It was really lovely to read about your stay at our Maidenhead hospital and to find out about what you felt worked well for you.

I will make sure that the Thames team at Maidenhead get the chance to read your comments too.

It's wonderful to hear that you are now doing a course you enjoy at college and that all is going well for you.

Please do keep in touch and let us know when you get that dream job!

With best wishes, Jane Spriggs, Marketing Manager
