I have no criticism to offer. My experience was uniformly excellent and I would commend all the staff involved for their efficiency and friendliness. The main features of my experience are as follows.
* I attended for an investigative procedure. My appointment was for 1pm.
* I had not previously been to the Queen Margaret Hospital and took some time to find it but that is because I had not paid sufficient attention to what were clear instructions in the patient pack with which I had been provided.
* Free car parking space was available. That was very beneficial as otherwise my wife would have been unable to accompany me into the hospital, locate the unit and be advised when to return.
* I arrived a little before 1pm and was asked to take a seat but did not have to wait long. I was seen by a nurse just after 1pm. Her questions and her advice about the procedure were very clear and her manner very professional. She was friendly and straightforward but in no way patronising. She gave the impression that she wanted me to have a good experience.
* The procedure was underway a little after 1.30pm. Again, both nurses and the consultant involved were friendly and gave the impression that it was important to them that I had a good experience of what is not the most dignified of procedures. It was carried out quickly and as I had opted not to have sedation I was able to follow what was going on. There was some discomfort but the procedure was pain-free.
* The post-procedure recovery period was about an hour, during which the nurse repeatedly checked on how I was. My wife was able to pick me up at 3pm.
"My experience was uniformly excellent"
