A couple of weeks ago I was admitted to George Eliot hospital, with an allergic reaction to antibiotics.
Every member of staff I had contact with were amazing.
I went from walk in clinic, to A&E and then onto the Acute Medical Unit followed by a visit a few days after discharge to the Ambulatory Clinic.
I did not have to wait to be seen at any point during my visits.
Each person who dealt with me was polite and treated me like I was the only person in the hospital.
The staff nurse in A&E kept me informed with what was happening and ensured my move to AMU was not only without problem but they re-assured me about the care I would receive on the AMU and how lovely the staff were on that ward. They were right, the staff nurse and sister were kind, compassionate and very able within their roles. To witness a nurse sit and comfort an elderly patient who was distressed and confused with such compassion was something that will live with me for a long time.
The consultants I saw listened to me and explained what was happening and treated the allergic reaction quickly and ensured with x-rays that their was no further damage caused.
As soon as they deemed me fit I was discharged without any hold up or delay with a prescription and referral to the ambulatory clinic.
Our NHS is amazing and the treatment and service I was provided that day, says so much about the staff at George Eliot, who continue to smile and treat patients politely and with compassion while working under the strains and stresses put on them.
Thank you so much!
