"Bluebell ward"

Staff work well in a difficult environment. Even though the staff are exposed to a lot of abuse, they stay calm and professional. A shame that staff don't have more power over abusive and destructive patients, who make other patients time on the ward worse then it already is.

Ward should have an isolation room as staff always end up having to spend all their time with one patient, to stop them trashing the place and not being able to spend time with the other patients.

Dear David, Thank you for sharing your experiences and your kind praise for the staff on Bluebell Ward. We will ensure that the comments are passed on to them.

We are disappointed to note the challenges you experienced.

You have highlighted some difficulties which must have been distressing and we are sorry that this has impacted on your time on Bluebell Ward.

We do hope that the Ward Manager will be able to use your experiences to further improve our services and to help to reduce the impact of situations that you have described .

It would be really helpful if you would be willing to share your experiences at our Patient Consultative Committee so we could learn to better support others in the future.

Patient Consultative Committees are regular, bi-monthly meetings for service users to meet up and share experiences of using mental health services in order to support improvement in service delivery.

They also regularly include KMPT staff to discuss relevant developments and other areas of work. Travelling costs for attending can be reimbursed.

The next East Kent Patient Consultative Committee meeting is on Wednesday, 21 March 2018 from 2pm to 4pm in Large Board Room, Eastern & Coastal Area Offices, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury CT1 1AZ (the same site as Bluebell Ward).
