Thank you for taking time to post your review; I apologise for the time taken to reply.

My investigations have concluded that unfortunately we had to cancel five patients who were scheduled to undergo Urology surgery on the 13th December 2017 due to staff shortages; this was despite the use of agency staff to try and ensure there were adequate staff available to care for those patients post operatively.

Due to the anonymity of your posting I am unable to be 100% sure if the 13th December 2017 is the situation to which you refer.

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to those five patients, however the safety of our patients is always our primary concern and, as we were unable to assure ourselves that the care and wellbeing of patients could be safely managed, we were left with no option but to cancel non-emergency elective surgery.

We operate open and transparent care, and my team are encouraged to display honesty at all times, hence the correct detail was shared with each of the five patients the morning of the 13th December 2017.

It is my understanding that all five patients have received new dates for admission, however if your wife is not in position of this information please do not hesitate to contact the Reservations Team at BMI The Ridgeway hospital.
