"No service if you actually work for a living..."

About: Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust

I was referred to this trust's weight management service by my GP and sent details of 4 possible sessions I could attend (3 of which had already happened) the other one was during the day. There was only one evening session which I could not get to since it was in a place inaccessible by public transport, which means that people who work full time effectively can't use the service. There was no reply form of any sort provided, so I could not record the reasons I was not taking up the service, therefore neatly avoiding this information being sent back to the commissioning borough and just making it look like I chose not to attend. The only option given for weight loss support was a 9 week course.

I phoned and complained about the lack of evening services and was told it was because they couldn't get venues, which I found very hard to believe. Slimming clubs seem to have no problem finding evening venues.

Thanks for sharing this feedback, we're sorry to here that you have had an unpleasant experience trying to access this service and a session that suits you. We have passed this on to the service manager - if you have already tried to speak to the service directly, then you could speak to our PALS (Patient, Advice and Liaison Service) team as they can help to resolve issues and discuss what other options are available. You can contact them by ringing 0161 716 3178 or emailing pals.penninecare@nhs.net.
