What I liked
I was seen very promptly for my consulation, and the planned procedure was explained thoroughly (curretage of a small cyst). I then saw the pre-op nurse - again with no waiting - who was also very helpful in explaining what to expect. I was told my operation would be in 3 to 4 weeks. Later that day I had a call from the hospital saying that a theatre slot had opened up that afternoon due to a cancellation.
We came back in the afternoon, the staff processed my paperwork very efficiently even though it seemed to be during a shift change, and offered us tea, coffee and sandwiches. I was in theatre and out again in about an hour.
I was extremely impressed with the friendliness, profressionalism and efficiency of everyone I saw from porters to surgeons, and especially the way they were able to reschedule my appointment so rapidly. Admitedly I came at a relatively quiet time, but everything ran like precision engineered clockwork - I cannot praise this hospital highly enough. Thankyou!
Anything else?
I have used Newark Hospital A&E on several occasions with my children for various minor injuries over the years and have always had a very positive experience. We've very rarely had much of a wait and standards of cleanliness and clinical care have always been first rate.
To any local politicians / Trust directors reading: please do everything you can to preserve this jewel in Newark's crown. It would be a tragedy to lose any part of this fantastic service.BureaucracyCancellationsCystsCleanlinessPatient careServiceChildrenAppointmentsFriendlinessNoise levelsReceptionPortersSurgeons
