"Nurse in charge was was lazy and disrespectful!!"

About: North Manchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

I’ve had a few admissions to the a@e department at north manchester for the same reason n each time this nurse in charge has been exactly the same n does the bare minimum. They constantly walk round trying to look busy whilst giving out orders to the staff who are rushed off their feet without any break. When I got there on 13/12/17 I waited 55minutes with my 12month old baby who was extremely distressed before I was even triarged I asked them when he would be seen n they just said the doctor was using the room as they were busy, completely understood this but when the doctor was finished I waited 20 mins for them to come out and they didn’t,

I looked through the window to grab their attention yet they just sat on a chair doing nothing not even using a computer. Seeing my son was getting worse I took him through where a lovely nurse heard his breathing did his observations and got a doctor to him straight away where he was given back to back nebulisers and medication and kept in where he still is now.

The nurse in charge then verbally attacked the nurse looking after my son in full view of me and other doctors which was clearly unprofessional and embarrassing to witness god knows how that nurse must have felt. The nurse in charge was rude and not very approachable. I understand how overstretched the nurses and doctors are but a little bit of care and consideration is all it takes surely to be a nurse you should have a caring nature? I am so grateful to the second nurse and fantastic doctors who looked after my son but feel if he would have been triarged sooner then wouldn’t have got to the stage he’s in now from previous experiences with his breathing problems .
