I visited the Circle Hospital this morning for the first time. Staff at Reception need to remember that patients may be apprehensive or vulnerable and staff ought to be a lot more helpful and friendly. They are the first point of reference for those entering the building and first impressions tend to stick. I am quite taken aback by the unfriendliness of the Reception. It put us off the hospital straight away. My partner was not at all relaxed or confident after this first contact. (Fortunately the consultant we were there to see turned out to be superb, excellent and absolutely lovely!) Management need to remind Reception Staff of a few basic courtesies, e.g. Smile! .... Communicate!.... be polite, and respectful.
