"Wonderful staff at Tameside General Hospital"

About: Tameside General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was referred from my doctor to A& E for an operation around 10am. First seen by the triage nurse who was lovely. Then bloods taken by a nurse, quick and painless. Then I was seen by a junior doctor, who once again made me feel very comfortable considering the situation. I then saw a member of the surgical team - after being told I may need to wait a couple of hours I'm sure I only waited 45 minutes. He was lovely and explained my options and answered all my questions. While he went to sort out a theatre I saw another member of the surgical team. Just as lovely, explained everything to me thoroughly.

Shortly after I was taken to the correct department, Day Surgery around 1: 30pm. The nurse who brought me through made me feel at ease, and explained what would happen next. I was taken in quickly to be prepared, with 3 members of staff, two female and one male. Each one made me feel so much better about the operation I was about to have. Then I was taken into surgery. The two people I met with earlier carried out the procedure, and there were about 8 staff in the room total. Absolutely all of them were amazing. All checked I was okay as I had opted for local rather than general anaesthetic. Everything was explained to me step by step.

I was in a great deal of pain that day, nervous about being in a hospital, and they made it completely bearable for me. They all went above and beyond. Each one of them deserves so much praise and recognition. The surgeons, the lady who held my hand, the nurse who kept checking I was okay, and everyone else I met along the way. So, TGH, please thank everyone who dealt with me around 2: 00pm, discharged at 3: 00pm, for surgery on lateral left chest wall. I'm so grateful for all of you.
