When diagnosis with breast cancer at the RUH breast care department, it's and overwhelming news to accept..... and then the journey commences. From my first mammogram to several tests and then the results to which I always Saw a consultant to explain the results and the options available to me. I felt each time, dignity and respect throughout all appointments, choices and options were given. There was always time to explain the processes and always involved with each step. I especially welcomed the breast care nurse, having time to digest information and then ask more questions. .... There were a lot of questions and reassurance and answers were given respectfully. I had 2 operations from the consultant from the RUH and after meeting them I felt completely at ease, given time to ask questions and the opportunity to see them again before surgery if necessary. I felt the consultant was passionate of their profession and wanted to empower me with decisions of my options of surgery. Thank you does not seem enough. Their words during a visit , "we will look after you". And they did . I am so grateful.
I have been given the all clear of cancer , all cancer patients long to hear this being said.
My named nurse followed my journey and nearly always present through my journey, apart from 2 visits they were always there . Thank you to the nurse. Thank you especially to the consultant as I no longer have cancer .
