"Attitude of staff member"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / High Dependency Unit

(as a relative),

At first staff were kind one nurse in particular hdu was amazing the whole time my mum was there but the last couple of days my mum stayed in this department there was a member of staff who was being quite abrupt and rude to my mum as if she was too much bother.

She was given something to move her bowels but it started and my mum had  constant accidents which made my mum feel awful and embarrassed as it was.  then the longer this went on the more off this certain member of staff got with my mum and us as a family.   Given we were told 5 days previously to prepare to lose my mum. I find their attitude appalling and rude. All over the hospital and times my mum's been admitted we have never came across anyone so off.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Mlg,

This is sad to hear on so many levels. One of our core values is

Respectful

"I will see everyone as an individual, be open, approachable, and treat everyone with dignity and respect".

I am sorry this is not how you and your mum feel about your mum's care latterly.

This time of recovery should be such a delightful time with precious moments that you and your family were not expecting. It is also such a shame that this has marred your mums good care (by the sounds of it). Sadly, the things that don't go so well are the things that overshadow the good things. I think it would be very useful to have a chat about this so we can address it.

If you would like to speak to someone about this you can contact the charge nurse on the ward direct, or contact me at eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk or phone me on 01563 826222 and we can have a chat about this.

Best wishes,

Eunice
