"Excellent and caring staff, who have..."

About: Clatterbridge Hospital

What I liked

My wife had recently to stay in Clatterbridge for just over a fortnight. When visiting her, there were a number of aspects that I found particularly impressive: the care and concern for her health shown by all the staff (nursing, consultant, support); the fact that that I was always able to find out about how her treatment was progressing and planned programmes of further therapy.

What could be improved

The only really negative aspect (which I appreciate cannot be a priority) was that it would be good if some time could be dedicated to ensuring that there are sufficient amenities kept maintained for patients (such as those in my wife's position) who, although able to move around comfortably in general, may be uncertain about how long they will be in hospital. Over the period I was there, while some facilities (TV,VCR, DVD etc) were available in the patient's lounge, unfortunately a number of these were not functioning fully (e.g. picture only from VCR). These technical problems might have been straightforward to fix, however, it wasn't possible to detemrine this.

Anything else?

My wife's state of health has improved dramatically since, and I consider this in no small part to be due not only to the quality of treatment she received but also to the caring, friendly, and reassuring environment created by all of the staff working in the department and on the ward where she was treated.Anger managementCounsellingConsiderateDedicatedPatient careReassuringEnvironmentConsultantsNursing staffSupport staff
