Mum is partially sighted and was told to go to Ward J84 for admission. Then told she should be on J23, but they weren’t expecting her. She was on J84 post op. They told her she could go home at 10am the next day, but it was past 3pm before we left. Apparently we were waiting for ‘paperwork’ and ‘medications’. The medications were what she already had in her dossette (which she couldn’t have but was told they’d happily give to a visitor if they asked! ) and the only post op medication she needed was paracetamol which can be bought over the counter. Eventually got an agreement Mum could leave and they would post out the discharge letter. A lot for her to manage, lots of wandering about a hospital far from home (in Bradford) and lots of unnecessary waiting!
