"A recent clinic visit to Ayr Hospital"

About: University Hospital Ayr

(as a service user),

I was attending a follow up clinic appointment nervous about test results which were thankfully normal but when I explained I was still experiencing symptoms I got told “it’s all in your head”  to which I was absolutely disgusted.

Is this normal practice by clinicians at Ayr Hospital?

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Seaside26,

I am so sorry you were told this, is not only demeaning but it is very unhelpful and I would not expect this to be a common or a normal response.

I am glad your test results have come back normal but I am sure this has not been as reassuring as you would have like. I wonder if it would help to talk to someone in the service about this. If you would like to contact me we can explore how to help. My number is 01563 826222 and my email address is Eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk.

Kindest regards

Eunice
