My Mrs had our son at Queens in Feb 2011. The experience really made me wish my private health insurance covered maternity care!

The staff were so rude and uncaring! My partner was forced to walk from one ward to another whilst having strong contractions even though the nurse showing is the way was pushing an empty wheel chair! She refused to let her sit in it even though we had to stop every 90 seconds to wait for the contraction to pass.

There were sweets and empty sweet wrappers on the floor in the room we were given!

Two days after our son's birth, we had to go to a&e on the advise of our midwife. A&E said that it wasn't a problem the dealt with so we were fobbed off to Tropical Lagoon ward. They then sent us to another ward as it wasn't something they dealt with either. Finally we were sent to the right place and spend 5 hours before anyone even looked at our son. I expected a two day old baby would have some sort of priority!

The whole experience, before, during and the after care of the birth has been a very poor experience. For a hospital that only opened in 2009 I am bitterly disappointed.
