My dad was taken to hospital by ambulance on Wednesday, when he was moved to AMU, the ward was dirty, his trolley wheels and table were filthy.
The wipes and gloves the nurses were using were thrown on the floor by the bin. The following day the ward had not been cleaned. The toilets has tissue on the floor from the day before.
A nurse came in to wipe down an empty bed, their gloves fell on the floor near the dirty gloves by the bin, they wore these to clean the bed. How is that cleaning?
A nurse came in to see another patient, who had spilt water on himself. I had helped the patient by taking the jug from him and calling for help. The nurse spoke to me very rudely, saying the patient was nil-by-mouth. The nurse didn't give me a chance to explain that I only took the jug from him and called for help.
The nurse shouted at the patient and then began changing him, speaking to him in a tone I did not like.
After this my dad was moved to the strathmore wing.
The hospital is like a maze so I ended up on the wrong floor, a nurse thought it was ok to speak to me like I was a child, they asked if I didn't see the big sign on the door. This made me extremely angry and I walked away from the nurse because I wanted to give them a mouthful but didn't want to stoop to their level.
The nurses I came in contact with definitely need further training in how to speak to the public.
I wouldn't wish a stay at this hospital on anyone.
