About: Northern General Hospital

I was admitted to hospital for a Whipples operation due to cancer in my pancreas this was performed by a very competent surgeon after I was taken to HDU where I remained for 8 days before being transferred to firth 9 the care I received on HDU was outstanding although I was unconscious or most of the time my family told e that I was never left alone the last two days when conscious all staff where absolutely lovely and very hardworking I would like to thank them for good care kindness and hard work .

Firth 9 staff although very kind and helpful they were unable to give the follow up care I needed due to not enough staff Thank you very much to all concerned

Regards Denise Furness

Thank you for your comments regarding the High Dependency Unit. I hope that you are now making a full recovery following your surgery. Your compliments will be passed on to the staff as they value such kind words.

I was sorry that you did not receive such care on Firth 9 although I have noted that the staff were kind and helpful but were not able to provide the follow up care due to capacity issues. Again this will be forwarded on to the senior managers as this is equally as important to us as your compliments.

Best wishes.
