Recently had an operation in day surgery. I grew concerned over the state of one of my wounds, which appeared to be opening up at one end of the incision.
As it was the weekend and getting appointments at my GP is difficult, plus I am unable to drive following the operation in order to avoid taking my husband out of work to go to the GP during the week we went to the NHS walk in centre at the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield.
Firstly, he was not allowed to accompany me to see the nurse for some unexplained reason despite me requesting he came.
Secondly, we found the nurse rude and insulting towards us. They questioned why we'd come to the walk in centre. Said the wound was fine, did not address any of my concerns and told me if I had any other problems to take them to my GP rather than the walk in centre.
I left still worried about my wound, insulted and upset.
Frankly, I think this treatment was disgusting. I've used the walk in centre twice before a few years ago when I worked in the hospital and had similar experiences, as has my husband when visiting there.
What is the point of the service being there if every time we go there, they make us feel like we've wasted their time?
