"Knee surgery"

About: Manor Hospital

I had a knee operation on the 6th October 2017 after waiting over a year 1/2, got to the arrivals lounge for 7am i was prepped and being put under by 9:15am no problems here the staff were all amazing and i could not fault them they made me feel at ease as i was very nervous, i came round and was placed on ward 20a where i stayed for five days, the staff were wonderful and i was cared for exeptionally by most, however, my operation required me to wear a leg brace and keep my leg straight post op for up to four weeks until i see my consultant which in itself a little awkward but i could cope with help of family and friends, i then got a letter to see my consultant which had been booked for nearly a month and a half after my operation on the 27th November, when i did go to my appointment i waited over an hour to be seen when i finally went in i was seen by someone who was not my consultant who did the operation, now i had a lot of questions regarding aftercare and i was either ignored (the consultant would only answer to my partner) or got the reply of ‘i dont know’ i mentioned i was still in a lot of pain again they ignored me and got me on the bed to change my brace over to a new one. They were extremely rough with my leg baring in mind i have had limited contact (other than to have staples out) to my knee, they reduced me to tears with how careless and rough they were they then proceded to pick my leg up by my ankle and shake my leg around to check my brace was properly locked. I was in complete disbelief anger and pain that i was treated that was by a consultant none the less! They also complained that my left leg muscles had completly wasted due to no movement and that i should of came sooner?? I came to the only aftercare appointment given full of questions about my procedure and expectaitons on my recovery and they had no idea. I have now had one physio session and am struggling to build muscle up in my leg or even bend it. I am 20 years old and am expected to bounce back quite quick from a operation of this sort but no because of my shocking aftercare i will now be in a brace until at least the end of Jan and on crutches until god knows when. Im due to have my right knee done also but will be going to my GP to be refered elsewhere as i refuse to have anymore care under this hospital.
