"Long wait for results"

About: Ipswich Hospital / General medicine

(as a carer),

After having a scan at ultra sound my brother in law who I and my wife were chaperoning (he has learning difficulties) we were sent to Brantham ward for assessment.

After a long wait he was seen by a doctor and they called a consultant who ordered a blood test. After about two hours the test was taken, five hours later after chasing the staff we were given the result of the test: cellulitis and oedema due to kidney failure.

He is a resident in a care home and is in extremely poor health. A twelve hour ordeal of waiting and worrying is unacceptable.

The nursing staff who were very busy were understanding, but there was some sort of emergency and all the doctors disappeared leaving the patients in limbo.

Can this be right?
