I was recently admitted with a leg infection but unfortunately, have a urostomy bag that frequently leaks and needs changing. I was admitted at the weekend, it is normal to have to change the bag up to 6 times a night, and bedding of course. I was told there were no further supplies and I had personally depleted the hospital supplies and it was all my fault!
I felt like a naughty child, desperate in case it leaked again and I needed another one I had been told repeatedly the bag I had been given was from somebody's personal supply and it was for pooh not pee pooh. I have a muscle condition which gives me severe cramps and muscle twitches which makes it hard to stay still especially at night I was told I moved around too much which was my fault so I stayed awake most of the night scared I would fall asleep and cramp too much. As far as I know, the stoma nurses aware of the situation on the Monday but did not see me straight away so I had urine running into my infected leg for 3 days.
