As someone who works with the Ambulance Service i always defend the NHS but having had first hand experiences in day surgery at Queen Margaret twice and a short stay for a total hip replacement in Victoria Hospital ward 10.
I have to say that my two hand operations with Mr Patel and Miss Mceachan were handled(pardon the pun) with humour which helped put me at ease, but professional to the letter regarding communication and information on all aspects of the surgical procedures. The nursing staff within the day surgery unit at Queen Margaret well very efficient and helpful and nothing was to much trouble and constantly informed us of delays, changes to treatment.
Regarding my stay at ward 10 Victoria Hospital, from admission to discharge the staff worked tirelessly to accommodate all my needs and it is a busy ward! The physios and occupational therapist were very hands on and encouraging which gives you the confidence to push yourself. Finally to the surgical team and Mr Khan, i certainly cannot praise this team highly enough, from anaesthetist to surgeon i was constantly informed of what was happening even in theatre which i appreciated and the after care was brilliant. In light of some bad press reports i felt compelled to write an honest review, i can honestly say that we have an amazing NHS with some wonderful staff who are stretched, but continue to perform professionally and with a smile on their face. WELL DONE.
