"no dignity on medical assessment"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

(as a relative),

My father was recently a patient on the medical assessment ward. In his opinion, the majority of female staff he saw on this ward appeared uncaring in their attitude.

My father had no privacy, he felt that the sister who asked him lots of personal questions did so with no respect, according to him she shouted the answers he gave out loudly so everyone in the ward could hear them and he said she seemed more concerned with conversations other staff were having than with dealing with my fathers problems.

My father said he witnessed four nurses constantly gossiping about other staff and as far as he could see, doing very little work.

My father is a very private man and he felt humiliated enough to ask me to write this in the hope something changes for other patients.

Thank you for your comment. We apologise for our slow response to you, which is due to an email alert error. Since your father attended our hospital, we have been working on making ward accommodation more private, including same sex wards. Thank you again for your comment.
