What I liked
My antenatal care was fantastic. The midwife remembered me between visits and always phoned me to let me know about any changes to my care.
The labour ward felt very calm and safe, i'm sure this helped me to relax and achieve the normal birth i'd hoped for. My wishes were always respected and I the staff were very reassuring and positive while I was in labour.
The postnatal ward was very busy but the staff were happy to help with whatever I needed. Once I felt ready to go home, they were able to organise my discharge after only a short wait.
What could be improved
There should be free access to tap water on Geoffrey Hammond ward. I felt bad having to get the staff to fill up my water jug when I could easily have walked to a tap myself.
There signs in the antenatal clinic could be clearer. I ended up waiting for ages because I hadn't checking in with the right nurse.
Anything else?
I had my first baby in london. I was just a number and it felt like I was on a pregnancy conveyerbelt where no one cared. My experience in Winchester could not have been more different. I was so well cared for and supported. I would highly recommend RHCH.Patient careReassuringAccessibilityReceptionMidwife
