My 14 year old daughter was seen at the paediatrics clinic in October after her scan showed an abnormal abdominal mass. It came as a surprise as she has always been a fit and well child. The paediatric consultant called me at home on the day that the GP sent the urgent referral and my daughter was seen the following day.
The consultant was very thorough in their approach and kept me updated with the scan and blood results. The consultant did a fantastic job of liaising with the surgeons and taking the role of co-ordinating and overseeing her care. My daughter has now had her surgery and is starting to feel much better. She has ongoing follow up with the paediatrics department.
As someone who works in the NHS (in a different borough) and understands the pressures that it is under, I am very impressed with the care and attention that we received from the paediatric and gynaecology team, as well as the prompt action taken to operate and alleviate her pain. All staff were helpful and polite each time we attended Croydon University Hospital.
"Excellent care from paediatrics service"
