"Far exceeded my expectations...Sunday arriving..."

About: Warrington Hospital

Having fallen and broken my wrist I was very shaken and apparently suffering from shock and I was scarcely in A&E before being moved into minor injuries: the staff were attentive and observant bring me blankets and onto a trolley right away. At every stage of attention I was fully informed about the process and the possible outcomes: whilst waiting for X Ray's the staff left me in a cubicle and kept checking on me and I was surprised at just how quiet and orderly the ward was. Staff introduced themselves by name and there was just the right balance of professionalism and friendliness: again the staff in X Ray were kind and efficient and the nurse contacted my daughter and arranged for me to be collected that night. I am ashamed to say that I slept through my alarm clock next morning and missed a call to go back to hospital but the staff remained polite and understanding. Again my care in the Orthpaedics ward could not be faulted, same attention to duty despite the staff having very heavy workloads they did not complain: I admit to having been terrified of the operation but the medic stretching my wrist the previous night had warned me about how to handle any pain so I was more relaxed on Tuesday. The fact that I was fully briefed about possible discomfort or pain made this more bearable and I was back in the ward in no time: the food was far better than I received during my last stay ten years ago and the staff were fully absorbed in their work, this visit enabled me to see how much the NHS had improved in ten years and as a former senior manager I could see that the team was well trained and they collaborated with each other well. Because I follow the government's decision making behind public services and the drive towards privatisation it was very clear to me that your current standard of care and patient engagement could not be sustained under private providers, I saw no slippage, wastage or duplication of provision. Thank you
