"Labour & aftercare"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as the patient),

I would just like to thank all the staff at wishaw university hospital from the staff in ward 23 for my induction to the labour ward staff and the staff of ward 22 for my aftercare.

I was induced in mid November and everyone I came across was amazing. My daughter was delivered 3 days later at 01.18 and I wish I could remember my midwifes name as she put me at ease, reassured me throughout and made sure I had the most positive birthing experience possible. I would never be able to thank her enough and I am so grateful.

Unfortunately my daughter became jaundice and we were readmitted to the transitional care unit a further 3 days later to stay overnight.

I was so relieved my husband was able to stay with me that evening. The midwife on night shift that night in the unit was amazing, she recognised that I had an infection and held my hand through an awful cervical exam while making sure both me and my daughter both received the care we needed.

Everyone I came across from sonographers to registrars and drs could not do enough for us during the whole experience but these two woman i will always be so grateful for. The staff do a wonderful job under stressful conditions.

Dear Gratefulpatient85

Thank you so much for your kind feedback on the care you received here at the maternity unit in University Hospital Wishaw.

I am delighted you had such a positive birth experience. As midwives this is what we strive to do and it is so important to us that in your case we have succeeded in this.

I am glad your husband stayed with you as I am sure you felt the benefit of his support at this worrying time for you as a new family with your daughter having jaundice.

Please be assured I will pass on your lovely comments to all staff in the areas you have mentioned.

I hope you, your husband and your daughter are enjoying lots of lovely family time together without too many sleepless nights.

Once again thank you so much for your lovely comments on your care.

Kind Regards

Lyn
