My father recently underwent major cardiac surgery at Papworth hospital. Though the standard of clinical care appears to be excellent, the staff’s approach to care was not person-centred or individualised at all. I noted on several occasions serious breaches in infection control precautions, for example, not changing gloves when appropriate, not wearing gloves to administer injections and not washing hands between different patient contact.
