"Very quick to stereotype and not treat u..."

About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

Treat as individuals not as a stereotypical group!

Anything else?

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for 6 years, and went to the Gynacology unit where was seen by the dr who after me literally walking in sitting down put my bag on the floor and said hello she said i was too fat and she wont treat me and come back in 6 months!

At no point was i able to address my concerns and frustrations of friends and family who weigh more that me and seeing people in the street who are alot bigger than me with newborns! I felt like she just straight away stereotyped me as being fat and therefore lazy despite me doing martial Arts twice a week plus going to the gym 3 times a week! What gives her the right to play god with me and decide my right if i am allowed to have kids or not!Doctors

We are disappointed to hear comments like this. All staff are trained to treat individuals with respect and dignity. We expect our doctors to carry out full appropriate investigations and to come to valid conclusions. It is possible that sadly for some patients they may be overweight for fertility treatment. We always work to national guidelines in this respect, the same as all other gynaecology units. In such circumstances we would expect our staff to help or advise as to what the next steps might be.
