"awful service"

About: University Hospital (Coventry) / Gynaecology

came to emergency gynaecology as I had a really bad endometriosis flare up and was in agony. Sat in the waiting area for nearly 5 hours being told ‘we’re just waiting for a general surgeons advice we’ll keep you updated’’. An hour and a half went by, and heard nothing. I asked the extremely rude receptionist to ask for an update, they disappeared somewhere and then just got their coat on and went home without giving me an update. I then asked a nurse myself who said they would ask a doctor... Still nothing. The reason i’m here is because i’m in agony and the last thing i want to do is sit in an empty waiting area still in agony for 5 hours waiting to be updated, and then never get updated. Clearly no staff communication and certainly no staff to patient communication. disgusted by this service. would never reccomend. I wouldn’t be surprised if the waiting area was packed and the staff were working through all of the emergencies. But for a good hour, I was the only person in the waiting area. just want to highlight again that i was an emergency patient.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on NHS Choices.

I was disappointed to hear that you have had a negative experience in our hospital, and that you have been waiting for treatment for almost five hours in our Emergency Gynaecology Unit.

Our hospital is extremely busy at present.

However, these are not the standards of care which we aim to provide, and I am truly sorry for your experience.

We would urge you to contact us directly as we would like to look into the issues you experienced in more detail, so that we can ensure that we improve the care we provide to other women.

You can contact our Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service, please call 0800 028 4203 or email feedback@uhcw.nhs.uk .

Before you contact them, you may also wish to contact me directly at susan.harrington@uhcw.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, we appreciate all comments both positive and negative, as it helps us to better understand our patients’ needs and to continually improve.
