"Margaret Bourne gives APH A&E a well deserved 5..."

About: Arrowe Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

Having had a successful operation at APH on 18th November, I had some issues with my recovery.

I was unable to get an appointment with my GP, so followed instructions on my release letter and reluctantly visited A&E, I felt I would be wasting their time.

I had no need to worry, every member of the team was wonderful. I’m sure the department is not always as calm as when I visited but I am confident they would still be as professional.

At no stage did I feel I was wasting their time.

An X-ray, blood tests,ECG were all completed to check whether there were any reasons for my concerns. The doctor in A&E checked my operation notes & fully explained them to me, very reassuring.

A surgeon came down down to see me, and was also extremely reassuring, told me how my recovery should be progressing and explained my symptoms fully.

My experience in the Surgical unit was equally positive, but maybe a little more attention to how you will feel post operatively might have alleviated my worries?! Again this is not a criticism, just a suggestion, I was simply told everything went very straightforwardly & I could go home.

A huge thank you to all concerned

Thank your for your feedback. We are sorry that you had some initial issues with your recovery from surgery but are pleased that the Emergency Department staff were able to resolve these for you so promptly, with input from the on-call surgical team. We will certainly share your feedback and suggestions with the managers for those departments, and trust that you have since made a good recovery from your procedure.
