My wife spent more than 5 months in the Broadfield ward of the Haywood rehab. unit of Royal Stoke hospital. Her care was exemplary - both professionally and in nursing terms.
The atmosphere in the unit was very warm and friendly, with everyone, staff and patients, on first name terms.
But underneath the family environment it was clear that there was a well-trained and committed ethos.
Everyone knew what standards applied to each patient and ensured they were stuck to.
The rehab services from the therapists were frequent and targeted, and the clinical involvement of the medical staff was obvious, as was any necessary access to the services of the main hospital - scans, etc..
We really can't speak too highly of the care my wife received, especially as she has had such a successful outcome from such a serious condition.
