About: Eastwood Endoscopy Centre

I was referred by my doctor and got a call from the centre very quickly with an even quicker appointment option, to say I was nervous would be an understatement as I would rather give birth than to go through the procedure. I asked to be put out but was advised the procedure was only 5 minutes and offered a sedation, the sedation did not make any difference at all and I tried my best to co-operate (gagging on the first attempt as no spray was given to the throat) on the second attempt the consultant managed to get the tube down with no problem however I couldn't breath and started to panic which resulted in the procedure ending before the whole process was completed. looking back on the process if the assistants had tried to calm me and help me breath through my nose it may have been successful, the consultant was very nice and did manage to get far enough to confirm a Hiatus Hernia and referred me for further tests.

Thank you for your comments, they are very important to us to enable us to try and improve the experience for our patients. We have noted that you felt that you felt the nurses could have been more calming and that could have made the experience more positive for you.

Thank you
