"Long wait to be seen but excellent care otherwise"

About: Kingston Hospital / Ophthalmology

I came with an emergency referral from my optician with very high eye pressures. I had to wait a long time fir even the triage nurse who was nice and explained everything. The door was open into the waiting area and I felt embarrassed that everyone could see me having tests and wincing when eye drops were put in my eyes. There should be better privacy. It's just a big open room with two doctors and others coming and going so there was limited patient confidentiality. I saw a doctor who dealt with my problem with kindness and efficiency. Other doctors and staff kept interrupting them for advice, which was difficult. I had to remind the doctor to put drops in my eyes to remeasure the pressures as they got distracted. I was there for about 6 hrs in total. It's clean and modern. The loo was clean. There was not enough chairs for everyone .
