I had a suspicious mole/lump on my upper arm and went to my GP to check it was nothing serious.
The GP took pictures and measurements and said it should be reviewed, which could be in Grantham.
I went away thinking it would be well after Christmas before I heard - how wrong can you be.
Next day while I was out at lunch, my mobile rand and it was Lincoln Hospital appointments - a very member of staff, who asked if I was available on Friday (just three days away) at 9.15 in Grantham.
So this morning we arrived at Grantham at 9.00 to be greeted and checked in by a charming receptionist who directed us to Dermatology.
We waited less than half an hour and I was ushered in to see the consultant.
They thought the lump to be benign but that it would be better if it was removed.
My heart sank;
I thought that’ll be weeks, but no, today and shortly.
True to their word I was taken to another room and prepared.
Ten minutes later they arrived, removed the lump, stitched me up and I was on my way home within half an hour.
Throughout the staff were brilliant - friendly and comforting.
They described everything they were going to do before they did it - the whole thing could not be improved upon.
I even have some spare dressings for the wound and instructions on what to do if there is a problem.
We hear so many bad things about the NHS these days that I had to write and say how lovely everyone has been - professional, competent, friendly- an absolute credit.
Thank you.
