My wife, Mary, has this year been treated at St Luke's as an out-patient by radio-therapy and chemotherapy to manage rectal cancer that had spread as nodules in her lung.
We wish to record our thanks to all the staff, seen and unseen, who worked so well on her behalf. While there is a positive result so far, the next test will be a CT scan in March 2018.
We shall write direct to the oncologist to thank them and the doctors supporting them.
Here we thank the reception and secretarial staff, the volunteers and assistants who helped us find places, the X-ray staff in The Royal Surrey, the blood-testing staff and the pharmacists so efficiently providing information and 'meds' for the chemo sessions, the radio-therapy teams, the oncology nurse-specialists, and the Chilworth Ward nursing staff.
The nurses were kind, caring, competent and cheering.
And of course hard-working and efficient..
Yes, St Luke's is filled with the courage and dread of the patients, but it is, especially Chilworth Ward, a remarkably happy place.
Thank you to all we met and the many others we did not see.
Finlay on behalf of Mary
