"Disappointed in the care I received"

About: Trafford General Hospital / Dermatology

I visited the dermatology dept for a routine appointment at the beginning of the month. I have been attending this clinic for the last four years and in this last year I am extremely disappointed with the care I have received. Every follow-up appointment that I have needed I have had to chase up through PALS. I have seen the majority of the consultants on staff and each have had a very different opinion of the care I should receive. My latest appointment, at the beginning of the month had to be chased up again, when I finally got one, I was advised that due to a member of staff dying, it had put a strain on the department. Whilst I understand that, it's not the first time I've had to chase it up. I attended the appointment only to leave extremely angry, disappointed and upset. It felt like I was an inconvenience, that basically with my condition I should just get on with it. I was advised that I was late in getting an appointment, which was out of my control. That as I had seen so many consultants and had many medications there was nothing else to try even though I was told by a previous consultant there was a next step in medication. The whole time during the appointment, I felt belittled, fobbed off, and told that I would be seen in six months. I have no doubt that I would be chasing that appointment up as well. My concerns were not listened too, and no alternative treatment was offered, I was advised on certain things that needed to be done, when in actual fact if they had read my notes they would of seen that they had. It felt like I was being rushed as there were other people waiting to be seen. Now I understand that there is a strain on the department, but patient care and respect should come first.
