"Now we can go gallivanting around the country"

My wife has Parkinson's disease coupled with Lewy Body dementia. Jenny  from the Firholm Unit in Peebles has come in weekly to see my wife. Jenny arranged for my wife to receive physiotherapy, this was provided by Katy and a young student called Andrew. 

The physiotherapy has made a real difference, my wife can now sit in the front of the car beside me so we can go gallivanting around the country.

Katy also arranged for a joiner to come and make modifications to the wet room so that it is easier for bathing. 

Turning to my own care I am twin deaf and go the audiologist at Borders General Hospital. I wasn't getting on too well with the hearing aids, the audiologist was concerned that I was wearing my aids 24/7. I explained I needed to do so in case my wife needed help during the night, without the aids I would not be able to hear her. He arranged for an engineer to come to the house to fit a vibrating system under my pillow to wake me if my wife called out.

All of the support we have received brought to mind a saying: Some body who is good at their job finds somebody who is good at their job. They in turn find somebody who is good at their job and we are the beneficiaries.
