I had my little girl at Derriford last week and I was really pleased with the care I received. Argyll ward could do with a tidy up - the showers and baths are very run down and this makes them appear to be dirty. Stafff were all very attentive and supportive during my stay.
Delivery suite was lovely and clean and fresher than the ward. My midwife was fantastic and a real credit to the NHS - an absolute treasure and helped us to remain calm and focused throughout labour. Some of the more senior staff left a little to be desired on the patient care front - one of the aneathetists was very abrupt and began arguing with other staff members in front of me whilst I was having a big bleed. Highly unprofessional!
Overall my stay was really positive and I would have no hesitation in recommending to friends and family.
"Mostly positive stay - fabulous midwife!"
