"My experience of Leighton Hospital..."

About: Leighton Hospital

What I liked

The care I received was excellent, I was visting my parents for Christmas (200 milles away from home) when I was admitted following a major bleed at 24 weeks and 3 day through my pregnancy.

I spent 3 and half weeks on the maternity ward before being transferred to my local hospital. All the staff, the Consultant and doctor I was under, Midwifes, Ward Manager, Student Midwifes, Volunteers, Maternity support workers, Health care assistants and cleaners were excellent. I was looked after so well, everybody was supportive, reassuring and I felt in safe hands and had a peace of mind with the baby being checked each day.

My bed sheets was changed regulary, room was keep clean, my water jug was replaced each day, The staff would go out of their way to help out and always so friendly and accomodating even after the long hour they work. It was difficult being so far away from home but all the staff made my stay as pleasurable as could be.

They had a cancellation on a antenatal course, so invited my husband & I along, the course was excellent and very well put together. I no longer fear labour :).

I really can not thank everybody enough. I just hope my local hospital is as friendly and as welcoming as everybody has been here.

What could be improved

The food was repetitive with little choice and I found it difficult to eat healthy. The menu did not vary week to week. It would be fine it you were here for a few days but after a week I was longing for a home cooked meal.CancellationsCleanlinessPatient careReassuringBedsReceptionMaternityCare assistantsConsultantsDoctorsHealth care assistantMidwifeVolunteersFood
