About: The Royal London Hospital For Integrated Medicine

What I liked

As a woman of Caribbean descent, I have suffered the dreaded Uterine Fibroids for at least the past 10 years. My mother and her a couple of her sisters also suffered this curse and they had hysterectomy's as the 'cure'. Because they also removed their ovaries, they suffered terrible mental depressions and to this day are not happy women. But I wasn't going to stand for that! As soon as I found out this was happening, I searched on the net for information about this malady and how to manage it. I came across herbal treatments and for many years took the prescribed tincture twice a day. Each year I had a pelvic scan to check the growth of the fibroids. As I had taken control of the situation, the growth of the fibroids - thanks to the herb - which is not prescribed on the NHS - I had to get that added privately to the tincture RHLIM prescribed, the growth of the fibroids was greatly reduced, and my uterus did not extend to the shape of a 4/6 month pregnancy as I have seen in others. recently I had a myomectomy to remove 4 fibroids which had over the 10 years grown to 5 centimetres..well, 16 were removed of smaller sizes and Thanks so much to RHLIM and the power of herbal

care - I still have my uterus, intact and I am quickly back on the mend with no mention of the dreaded HRT. My spirits are high and I feel I have won! I can go back into the world as a strong viable human being not dependant on drugs. whilst I was in the Whittington Hospital having the op, my consultant - brilliant woman, was very interested in how I'd managed the growths with herbs and my quick recovery. Conventional medicine helps many people especially with surgery, however herbal care must not be overlooked as a treatment, nor homoeopathy as we are organic beings. As a society we have come far with adding a hospital as RHLIM into our social structure, therefore to take it away would send us back into the dark ages with no alternatives to pharmaceuticals.

What could be improved

Primary Care Trusts such as Islington, need to look forward, not backwards. what needs to be improved are the funds available to maintain RHLIM as an important addition to health care, it's not as if we have several hospitals of this type in every town up and down the country. RHLIM is unique and we need to preserve that. Long waits at reception and at pharmacy are down to lack of funds to pay staff to be there. Though RHLIM take responsibility for this, they are shuffling staff like a pack of cards. Fortunately, I have never had to wait long at reception or at pharmacy , though I know others have.

We may need to march on the streets, as we did to save Whittington ( for now) to save RHLIM. We have to come together to save the vital resources that our children will need in their futures. Pharmaceuticals companies have had it their own way for too long and they are the curse of healthcare as they determine the costs of their drugs to heal us, not just in the UK but across the world. It is their greed that keeps us ill and dependant on them. RHLIM for ever!

Anything else?
