I visited the Opthalmology clinic at Pontefract District Hospital in February 2017 and everything was well organised.
I had to ring and book my next appointment in October as I had not heard from them. When I rang they made appointments for two different days. I asked why and they said it was fro diagnostics.
I have to travel from Wakefield , firstly down to Pinderfields hospital to get the Shuttle bus so was not best pleased as my partner has Parkinsons and I have to take care of him.
When I attended the first appointment I asked why it was been split and the nurse said it had always been done this way which was a lie.
Another nurse told me it was a trial to get the diagnostics before seeing the specialist. I asked why this was not been done the same as it always had been as it hadn't been a problem before, The answer was that there are a lot more patients so they don't have enough time to do !it
When I attended the next day, I couldn't believe it, I had the same visual occuity tests again.again.
I told the nurse I had had these tests the day before and they told me people's vision changes from day to day. Now I am no idiot . You mean to tell me we have been having these tests for decades and someone has only just realised this.
The nurses time was been completely wasted here.
When I was called in to see the Opthalmologist, they spent the first ten minutes looking at my past notes and not speaking to me. I might just as well have not been there. They then did the tests and spent another five minutes writing up the notes to print off my diagnosis.
I also noted the other Glaucoma specialist only saw two people in the whole of the time I was there and then went home.
This is quite clearly someone's vanity project. It is not fair on the patients most of whom are elderly or disabled who are been called in two days on the trot. Nurses time is being wasted . It is a joke. Someone please sort this mess out.
