I had green light prostate surgery in June. My body didn't like catheter and it was removed 4 days later.i had major pain and bleeding when it was removed and I was kept in for the day. All served to go well till early august I started having problems passing urine. I cashed the hospital and was told the surgeon was out of the country and I would get an appointment when they returned a month later. However I went into full urine retention and was admitted as an emergency to Broomfield. When I got to see the surgeon i had a catheter fitted . They had this removed and did a camera scan which showed some damage but they concluded Broomfields had dealt with the problem.
The catheter was out back and I was given an appointment to get it removed again in a week.
It was removed and all seemed well.
A short time later I started having issues again and called the hospital I was told the doctor was out of the country again but I could see the nurse. They tried to get a catheter in but couldn't. I was told that I would get an appointment with the consultant asap. But go to a and e if I got worse. I again went into full retention and was emergancy at Broomfield this time staying in fur a procedure.
I was told that now the damage was permanent and we'll probably require daily procedure to keep urine flow.
I was also told that the catheter must stay in two weeks then get removed and be shown how to do daily procedure.
How ever surgeon is again out of the country and I'm told the catheter must now stay till mid January when they return.
If the surgeon had been in the country when I needed treatment I would not be in this current predicament and if someone to over in their absence.
The catheter causes me pain continuously as well as now having problems for life which were avoidable.
I looked too complain officially but can't find any info on the web site. And of course I'm NHS.
