Visited last night with a 3year old with croup.
It was busy and as he'd been assessed by the paramedics I was happy he would be seen when he needed to be.
Staff were chatty to my son, making him reassured and at ease.
We waited in the paediatric waiting room - which was untidy and had lots of empty cups lying around.
The water jugs were also empty.
However I do appreciate on a busy night it might be tricky to make sure those things are done if the adult part of a&e is demanding (which it appeared to be).
The nurse who did triage was kind, caring and seemed genuinely interested in my son - and the same for the other patients during the night. I would recommended them as a real asset.
After treatment we waited a while to be reviewed by a doctor, but were offered drinks, somewhere comfortable to be and a trolley for my son to sleep whilst we waited.
The dr apologised twice for the delays and gave good advice, reassured me and was kind and caring - even at 730 in the morning at the end of a busy night.
I know it is tricky to keep cheerful when under stress and saw lots of examples of staff genuinely working hard to provide a good service with kindness, patience and dignity. Thank you to all.
"A&E visit - busy night and staff still showed..."
