"My worst nightmare"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Accident and emergency

I am a 70 year old female the last and only time spent in hospital was1989 for an emergency appendectomy.

I Rushed by ambulance to A+E with atrial fibrillation (15/11/17.)I was dealt with swiftly the nursing staff were professional and caring .All was good apart from very rude doctor who after seeing me sent their junior doctor to ask me if I was truthful about my alcohol consumption I was mortified..

I was gasping for breath and having great difficulty speaking because two days before on 13th I had 6 roots surgically extracted at the maxillo dept my lower gum was stitched all the way across the front of my mouth.

Now my nightmare really begins.

CDU yellow unit _ pushed in to the far corner and left at the side of a bed that had an air mattress asked for a normal one it was changed eventually...probably around eight or nine pm. I need the toilet so stagger to the end of the ward (toilet out of use((and was still out of use when

I was discharged on the night of the 17th).so a choice of Two filthy smelly toilets.

I managed to throw myself on the bed and listened to men arriving through the night on the ward was I hallucinating. Morning I cannot move so tired and unable to function.Doctors arrive was moved to the other end of the ward and hooked up to monitor and given various intravenous potions and put on high dosage oxygen. Feeling much better until I realized

I laying within a couple of feet away from a loud obnoxious old man who later in the day set of the alarms when he lit a cigarette up and refused to relinquish his lighter to ward Sister.By this time I feel anxious and wish I had the strength to get up an go .One more night I just about managed to get through the constant noise of beds being moved and screaming women and old man wandering to toilets and getting lost. Thank God I managed to get home to recover
