I'm currently in the process of getting a new prosthetic limb form the West Marc service. A Harris who I see there is very conscientious and helpful, you'd think that she studied psychology with some of things she picks up on! I lost my leg in an accident in the seventies.
I've always felt I was given first class care and attention by westmarc and that's never changed. When I'm there I always observe staff having a great relationship with their patients, there seems to be a great understanding between staff and patients here.
I have been coming here for quite a while but the place I went before (several years ago) was a mockery in comparison, and I am so thankful that I asked for a referral all those years ago because I honestly don't think I would be here without this service. I knew someone back when I was attending the previous service and he gave up, his family told me he died of a broken heart. So I am so glad I asked for a second opinion and am now receiving the help and care from WestMarc.
They are so friendly and understanding and they always get there eventually. When you are there it all feels worthwhile, where as at the service I went to before I'd just think "why am I here?"
Every patient is different and everyone will suffer pain from time to time but at the end of the day they get you the fitting you need and they give you your independence, there's nothing better than having your hard won independence. This is especially important to me since my partner died.I get ups and downs but they don't mess you around and it's all worth it.
Artificial limbs have come a long way in a short amount of time and it's just amazing. Sometimes if I cant see A Harris and see a different member of staff they have been great too. I once saw a member of the team here who took the time to show me the computer screen and explain things to me. The staff here are all very patient and I am so glad that they are there.
"My experience with and gratitude"
