Currently staying at Rosie hospital Lady Mary post delivery ward.
From beginning to now especially Lady Marry Ward has been a huge disappointment; very distressing for a person who had a major operation, cesarean and a baby to look after.
Staff appears friendly but all false to cover their failings. They say the right things but don't do anything until you get frustrated, in pain and upset. Until you become an annoyance to them. I had to ask several times for my cesarean dressing to be taken off as it got wet when I took shower around 11am. Now it is 9.30pm.
After having to be an annoyance and demanding for dressing to be taken off i came back to my bay crying for being such a person and feeling worth less. They make you hate yourself.
Since yesterday there is no soap in the bathroom. Can you imagine no soap in a post delivery unit! In a hospital!. I do not think this requires further comment.
Yesterday at around 10am midwife peeked and said they were gonna go for a wee then will be back to see me. Did not see them again until the evening.
I had to ask to see them. When the midwife came they told me all about how busy it is to be the 'midwife in charge' and all the duties they had to attend. Underlying message was that I wasn't that important to attend. The midwife said they will come back to have look at my wound and take the dressing off may be! That was the last time i have seen them!
Yesterday around 5pm had a breathing difficulty and some pain on my shoulder. So pressed the buzzer assistant attended and said that they will tell the midwife. 1-3 mins later been told midwife will come in a minute and dr will also attend. I also asked for a pain killer due to the pain. Nothing and no one till 9 pm shift change again after complaining about the pain to a person who came to do regular obs.
11pm a dr came apologised and asked about the pain i told them about it but luckily by that time pain was already gone. Otherwise can you imagine not being able to breath and being in pain from 5pm to 11pm!
This morning I had an ecg a Dr also attended . However, for some reason they couldn't get a clear ecg. When they finished assistant's comment was that even if the Dr couldn't do it how could they do it. Just what a patient wants to hear, how confidence booster! Later I was told that it was concluded that everything was fine.
These were the major issues after a major life event and a major operation. The problem is that I do not think these are problems with individuals but its a culture especially at Lady Mary ward. Good things are the individual effort and sincere care.
This is place where appology looses its meaning, purpose and value!
