"A&E paediatrics is a joke"

About: Queen's Hospital / Accident & emergency

Took my 12 month old son into paediatrics A&E, after he developed rash and blisters all over his body, and had stopped eating and drinking.

Waited 2 hours before even being seen by a triage nurse, who didn’t have a clue what was actually wrong, then was sent to wait outside paediatrics waiting area “just in case he’s contagious”

Waited another 2 hours to be told we was being sent to out of hours doctors, a 8.30 pm appointment was made for out of hours, once there we wasn’t seen until 9.40 pm - only to be told that they wasn’t sure what was wrong and sent us back to paediatrics, upon giving paperwork from out of hours to paediatrics the receptionist made it very clear there was no guidelines on what they were actually meant to be doing, we was supposed to be put straight through to paediatrics medical team but it was the receptionist shift finishing time so we was just put back on triage que, waited 2 hours, then requested to see a paediatrics doctor immediately because my sons condition had gotten worse while we was there and His lips had started to swell, only for the doctor to simply just look at my son and say “no, he’s fine, you’ll have have to wait” after explaining for the 5 th time that my son hadn’t eaten in over 24 hours they simply said “well you have to wait, I’m very busy” they then ushered us back to the waiting area and we waited another hour to be seen... over 7 hours for a 12 month old baby who was unable to eat or drink is ridiculous amount of time to wait to be seen
